Want To Be An Angel?

Vitamin Angels

Every year, hundreds of thousands of children in undeveloped, Third World countries lose their eyesight because of vitamin A deficiency. But they don't have to. For less than $1, you can be a "Vitamin Angel," and stop a child from going blind.

Researchers at the University of Oxford analyzed results from 43 studies involving more than 215,000 children — and found that supplementing the diet of children 6 months to 5 years of age reduced death rates by 24%, death from diarrhea by 28%, measles by 50%, and vision problems by about 68%. "Vitamin A supplements should be given to all children at risk of deficiency, particularly in low and middle income countries," concluded the authors, in BMJ (British Medical Journal).

Well, one of the organizations doing an outstanding job in making sure vitamin A supplements and other nutrients are given to "all children at risk" (and pregnant and nursing women) in poorer countries is Vitamin Angels. If you'd like to donate to charity, but don’t have much to give, you can still make a huge difference in the lives of needy families by donating a small amount to Vitamin Angels. For those who have only a few dollars to give, you can make sure those dollars really count!
