Infertility

BACKGROUND

Infertility is becoming increasingly common, affecting about 1 in 6 couples. Of those affected:

1/3 are associated with ovulation, anatomic, immunologic, infectious, nutritional or hormonal factors on the woman's side.
1/3 are caused by low sperm count in the man (sperm counts have dropped 60% worldwide in the last 50 years).
1/3 of cases are associated with a mix of male and female factors.

Simple natural therapies can markedly improve a woman’s fertility and a man’s sperm count. Unfortunately, because these treatments are NOT expensive, no one tells physicians about them. Instead, physicians are told about IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) at a cost of about $35,000.

TREATMENT

There are many effective treatments. They should be done together, and both the man and woman should be treated.

Here are a few quick points (each can markedly increase fertility):

FOR WOMEN:

General Diet Advice

Avoid soda and coffee

Avoid high doses of vitamin C

Don't take more than 1,000 mg a day.

Avoid a high protein diet

e.g., the Atkins Diet.

Drink whole milk

Fat free milk can drop fertility markedly.

Recommended Supplements

Multi-nutrient powder

Take a good multi-nutrient powder (see Energy Revitalization System).

Iron

If the Ferritin iron test is under 50, take iron.

Thyroid hormone

Take thyroid hormone (even if your lab tests are “normal” — see Lab Testing NOT Reliable!).

FOR MEN:

Raise your sperm count (even if “normal”) through the following:

Avoid soy products

Soy can drop sperm count — a lot.

Recommended Supplements

Multi-nutrient powder

Take a good multi-nutrient powder.

Coenzyme Q10

Take Coenzyme Q10 200 mg/day.

L-Arginine

Take L-Arginine 4 gm/day.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine & carnitine

Take Acetyl-L-Carnitine 1,000 mg/day and carnitine 1,000 mg/day.

Ribose

Take Ribose 5 gm twice a day.

Other Therapies & Advice

Wear loose boxer shorts.
